A Personal Note to Other Healers, Intuitives and Spiritual Coaches/Teachers
I have received a number of letters and calls from other spiritual healers and intuitives (as well as spiritual coaches and teachers), some of whom are already in practice and well-established, and others starting out, a number of whom eventually told me that I was one of the first healers to respond positively to their overtures. Many of these folks reported that they have repeatedly tried to contact other folks in this field whose websites they found, and either received no reply at all, or received a very cold and discouraging reply. In some cases, they felt that it was made clear to them that they were potential competition and that over-friendliness was not a good idea.

For my part, I have been approached by quite a few folks in this field, either already in practice, or just starting out, and have never yet had a negative experience. Instead, I have found that I have developed a loose network of colleagues and friends. In some cases, I have been able to help folks just starting out with some advice on thier websites, policies, fees (or the issue of fees versus donations) and other matters. I have also ended up performing trade work with several other practitioners (spiritual healers), and in each case found the trade work rewarding.

I always welcome hearing from spiritual healers and other folks in this field, and I always respond promptly to calls or letetrs (unless I am traveling, in which case I will reply upon my return.)In addition to the other helaers, intuitives and teachers who have contacted me just to say howdy, I have noticed one additional phenomenon. For some reason, a lot my client base -- that is, folks who approach me for work -- has turned out to be healers or intuitives of very long-term spiritual students, who wish to go further. Indeed, about 60% of my clientele seems to be folks in this category. Much as with the healers and intuitives who have approached me just to say hello and chat, some of these clients are alrady well-established in a practice, while others are just starting out, or even unsure what to do next. My experience has taught me that with many of these folks, a very brief period of allowing me to work with them on an inner level results in an often drastically increased access to intuition, to Divine Heart, and in their healing abilities. Indeed, I have often found similar results in working with energy healers as well, where they report that their work seems to become more guided, powerful and centered. Friends and acquaintances who are intuitives have confirmed that a large part of my work is to be working with other healers and intuitives, as well as with long-term spiritual students.
In closing, I would like to iterate that I do not view other healers and others in the related teaching fields as competition, but rather as colleagues and fellow explorers and helpers. Indeed, I have often referred potential clients to other healers or intuitives whom I felt might be able to help them better. If you have been contemplating sending me an e-mail or making a phone call to say hello, please feel free to do so! I would love to hear from you and share experiences!
Lastly, if you have ever experienced a struggle in your own life as to whether to charge a fee for your healing work or to work for donations only, or perhaps a broad sliding scale, welcome to the club! This seems to be a common issue for most healers. I am currently creating a web page on this site where I will share my own thoughts and experiences on this issue. I will post the link here shortly!
So, please feel free to contact me if you wish, even if just to say hello or to ask a quick question!
Lastly, a note about an e-mail list group for spiritul healers which I formed at Yahoo Groups in September 2003. The name of the group is Spiritual-Healers. This e-mail list group is a haven for anyone who is a spiritual healer, and affords a place to discuss issues such as finding the next inner step, being able to listen well to Spirit/Being, staying in the flow of Grace or Being, staying in Heart, and then the day-to-day issues which confront many healers, especially those just starting out, such as advertising or not, search engine ads or not, charging a fee versus donation only, or how to manage difficult clients (e.g. the client who calls and says "I have a nasty illness. I have been to over 300 medical doctors and 450 energy healers, including a healer guru in India who charged me $10,000 for a one-hour treatment. No one has been able to cure my condition yet. I want you to guarantee that you can fix me.")
In my definition, spiritual healing is a healing modality where the healer is connecting with God/Being/Spirit and simply getting out of the way and allowing God, Being or Spirit (whatever term is best for you) to handle whatever is in accord with highest wisdom, order and coherence. On the other hand, I (and many authors) would define any type of healing where there is significant intent, will or concentration (as in focusing to dissolve a tumor or erase an addiction) to be not in the realm of spiritual healing but rather many folks describe as energy healing or subtle energy healing. Some folks call these other forms by names such as shamanic healing or psychic healing as well. So, my definition of spiritual healing seems to be rather close to that of Barbara Brennan, the author of the energy healing book Hands of Light. On the last page of her book, she mentions that there is one form of healing beyond energy healing, namely spiritual healing, but that spiritual healing is beyond the scope of her book.
